Training at the Center helped me get ready for my rookie season and I return during each off-season to get me ready for each grueling season! Thanks to the guys at the Center!

Hockey Training

The average ice hockey player performs for 15-20 minutes of a 60-minute game. A typical shift is 30-50 seconds of intense effort followed by 3-5 minutes of rest. At the Center for Athletic Performance our elite hockey training program focuses not only on preparing athletes for game type situations but also keeping them as healthy as possible. To do this we focus on multiple aspects of sports training. Developing a player's aerobic endurance, anaerobic capacity, muscular strength, and resistance to injury is where we concentrate our efforts.

The Center has the uniquie ability to design a training program with the consultation of our in-house Physical Therapy Department. Our sports performance staff is headed by Don Jupp. Don has worked with many NHL players from across the country. He still serves as a consultant to these players for their off-ice and off-season training programs to this day.

THE PROGRAM:
1. Injury Prevention: An injured athlete is of no use to his team
2. Aerobic Conditioning: Having a base aerobic capacity is an integral part of hockey
3. Anerobic Power: Creating that burst and ability to accelerate quickly
4. Agility: Hockey is a reactive sport, each athlete must change directions quickly

Our training program is highly adaptable and effective. The Center's staff consults with each individual athlete and designs a program specific to their needs.
