"Four months ago, a fall on the ice caused a severe rotator cuff tendon tear in my shoulder...The Center staff specifically developed a program of rehabilitation just for me and with their experience were able to coordinate a plan for the cure of the frozen shoulder and the strengthening necessary to achieve the desired result without surgery. Success was not guaranteed, but in my opinion the personal and caring atmosphere throughout the Center increased the odds of success.  I did my prescribed exercises away from the Center so I could heal, but I also wanted to succeed so as to not disappoint all those at the Center who had helped me. I am 76 years old and without surgery am back to playing singles tennis.. "

PEDIATRIC PT

Physical Therapy is not just for adults!!!

Unique to outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, The Center for Athletic Performance and Physical Therapy offers true pediatric services. From infants to teenagers, our staff aids the pediatric population in attaining their age appropriate gross motor skills so that they can play and have fun with recreational activities. We specialize in mild congenital impairments such as (but not limited to) gross motor delay, hypotonia or low muscle tone, higher functioning cerebral palsy, ataxia, poor motor control and lack of coordination, toe walking or any abnormal gait patterns and general orthopedic injuries such as fractures or common adolescent sport related overuse injuries such as apophysitis (Sever’s disease, Osgood’Schlatter’s), growth plate injuries or muscle strains. All therapy services for patients under the age of 10 are designed to be fun through the use of toys, games, obstacle courses, imagination, etc, to motivate them to get stronger, become more coordinated, have improved balance, increased body awareness, greater flexibility and utilize the most appropriate, efficient, functional movement patterns. We educate parents on activities to work on at home with their kids so that they can be an active part of the process of encouraging proper development.
